Western Leases More Longmont Real Estate

Boulder County continues to buck the national trends as digital storage giant, Western Digital, leases an additional 20,000 square feet of Longmont Real Estate. This almost doubles the amount of real estate leased by Western, and opens up employment opportunities again in the area. This is great news for the local economy.

Seagate Technology, which is headquartered in Longmont, is the country’s largest hard drive manufacturer, while Western ranks number two with over 27,000 employees worldwide, and over 100 employees who are mostly engineers.

The company plans to hire more people as a part of this expansion. The cool part about this announcement is that it’s reinforcing a trend we’ve been seeing locally that job growth is strong, which means locally we can anticipate a robust economy if this trend continues.

Western Digital says they saw a 43 percent jump in revenues in the past year. Western focuses on the Boulder Valley area reportedly due to the great talent pool that matches its needs, and likely targeted the Longmont area due to the affordability of commercial real estate.
