Scout Conquers Another Milestone

photo_100607_002.jpgWhile it’s a little bit of a drive, the somewhat remote area of the front range by Red Feather Lakes west of Fort Collins, Colorado is host to a great outdoor experience.

For the Boy Scouts, there’s a ranch owned by the BSA that has over 1000 acres of opportunity for boys to get some time in the outdoors.

Part of the camp includes an area devoted just to the Cub Scouts. We’rephoto_100607_006.jpg headed up there as a family for the haunted weekend. Given the weather this last few days and the lateness of the season, we may opt to just go up for the day instead of camping. They’ve taken down the seasonal tents already so they must know a thing or two about the potential for very cold weather and snow up there.

photo_100607_018.jpgRecently my son and I went up for Tiger Cub Scout Day and he got to try his hand at Archery, shooting BB Guns, wrist rockets and then after a great lunch we spent the afternoon building and improving a new hiking trail so he could earn his SOAR patch.

Here’s some more on the adventures of my son and me and his scouting experience.
