Marshal Mesa Trailhead Moved

photo_092507_004.jpgIn case you hadn’t noticed, the Marshall Mesa Trailhead parking moved west this year. I still see some people parking on the Marshall Road area although it’s getting better.

The new parking area is great actually and you don’t have to worry about getting run over by people speeding by on Marshall Road. We were confused and parked along the road as several others had done only to get a visit by a local Ranger telling us where the new parking area is but also to let us know that parking along the road is illegal. Who knew?

The trail provides some great terrain, views and opportunity for a great outing whether you’re hiking or just planning a stroll.photo_092507_011.jpg

Marshall Mesa Trail connects to the Community Ditch Trail and a loop hike can be taken combining these two trails. Self-guided interpretive signs about the coal mining and geologic history of the Marshall area are located along this trail.

Bicycles are allowed on Marshall Mesa Trail, Greenbelt Plateau Trail and Community Ditch Trail. Bicycles may be ridden only on those trails that are posted with the international bicycle symbol.
