Colorado Shakespeare Festival

Shakespeare-FestivalThe Colorado Shakespeare Festival is not to be missed. Held in the Mary Rippon Outdoor Theater on the Boulder campus of the University of Colorado, it’s produced by a professional theatre company in association with the CU Boulder.

The festival has featured plays by Shakespeare since 1958.

Plays are performed in the historic Mary Rippon Outdoor Theatre and also in the newly renovated indoor University Theatre.

This season is the 60th season of the Colorado Shakespeare Festival and features five different plays, four by Shakespeare, and one comedy by Tom Stoppard.

Quaker Oats Lafayette Colorado Quicker Quaker

quaker-logoEvery year Lafayette has the Oatmeal Festival, and with it comes the Quicker Quaker 5k.

It’s an event that’s been going on now for 20 years, and the feature piece, depending on how you see it, is the 5k running race through the streets of Lafayette.

Some would say that the best feature is the massive oatmeal breakfast!

The race and event isn’t until January 14th, 2017, so for now you may have time to register.

Jaipur Literature Festival Boulder Colorado

JLF logo mastheadThe Jaipur Literature Festival was established in India ten years ago, and now an offshoot of the largest free literature festival in the world returns to Boulder.

It’s a 3-day event of readers and writers celebrating literature across the globe as well as local and regional writers.

You’ll have the opportunity to attend talks, readings, music performances and writing workshops as part of the free festival, this month: September 23-25, 2016.

Buffalo Bicycle Classic

buffalobicycleThe Buffalo Bicycle Classic, sponsored by Elevations Credit Union, is an event that’s been around over a dozen years supporting fund raising for student scholarships. One of the routes utilizes the Boulder Creek Path.

More than $3 million in scholarships have been awarded to promising students in CU-Boulder’s College of Arts and Sciences since 2003 when the Buffalo Classic began.

Several miles of Boulder Canyon west of town will be closed on September 11th for the event.

All students in the scholarship program finish high school with a 4.0 GPA or better, and each has strong financial need, which makes this scholarship program especially important. The $10,000 scholarships to these outstanding students is what actually makes higher education possible for them at CU.
