Boulder Architect Alex Platt Builds Green

Ever wonder how to get the home of your dreams, designed by a great Boulder architect, without getting the run-around? Many people think that hiring professionals is a tricky business. That’s why I bring you profiles on local businesses, and business professionals like this Boulder Architect, Alex Platt. Would you like to know the story behind my first meeting Alex? What he has to say might surprise you.

While he’s a strong advocate for solar solutions, and is often heard saying “hey, sun is free energy”, he’s not likely to direct you towards Photo Voltaic Solar Electric systems, even though he’s used them many times.

In fact, what he really wants us to do is to understand how passive solar, site orientation, landscaping and vegetation, and a change in how we think about energy, can save us money, preserve the environment, and live more comfortably.

Watch this video profile, read what I have to say below, or heck, just  Call, Text, or Email me today for a private introduction. This is a guy you really do want to meet!

The first time Alex and I met was because I had finished my EcoBroker certification, and realized I had a new way to help people. I sought out a new path to get to know the people behind what I believed to be good work in the Boulder housing community.

One of the projects I looked at was called Solar Village. It’s a development actually out in the north eastern part of Boulder County in an area called Prospect. There are many really cool things that Alex did with Solar Village, and it intrigued me to want to get to know him. So guess what I did; I just looked him up and went over to his office.

What I found was someone who, like me, has a desire to bring great solutions to home buyers who are looking to learn more about, and embrace green building techniques.

More and more of us are focusing our attention on green building, and many people are concerned about how to make the right decisions about green building. I know some of us have spent lots of money on upgrades like new windows, and renewable energy solutions for our houses, only to be disappointed by the poor financial return on the initial capital investment. If you have, you are not alone, and you should know that it’s very easy to be misled in this industry.

Actually, it’s more common than you might think to get caught up in the advertising hoopla that encourages us to spend our money in certain ways, with the promise of great returns on energy and money savings.

When I first walked into Alex Platt’s office in Boulder, I thought I might find some guy either too busy to take the time to talk to me, or someone that was ready to sell me on why he was the only one with all the right answers.

Not so on either account. Alex was very friendly and amazingly low-key. We spent over an hour talking about his business, and the architecture and building business in general. We shared some ideas about green building and what we thought was happening in the industry, which let us to this video you can see here today.

I’ve found after learning more about many architects work, that we can actually save money, get a better return on our investments and decision making when building or renovating a house, and cut through the clutter if we pick the right professionals.

I think Alex Platt is one of those professionals.

And by the way, I’m never too busy for your referrals, as a real estate professional intent on giving back to the community, my relationship-based approach is exactly what you’ve been looking for in a helpful Realtor, and I will listen to you.

Whether you, or someone you know may be thinking of a move, or you’d simply like to get a personal introduction to a great local architect,  Call, Text, or Email me… I hope we can speak soon.
