29th Street Boulder Art Festival

Boulder’s 29th Street shopping district has announced it’s hosting the Boulder Festival Of The Arts At Twenty Ninth Street. (I can’t ever be clear whether we should call this ‘Twenty Ninth Street’ or ’29th Street’.)

It’s supposed to be a juried art event and most, if not all, artwork will be for sale. Photography, Sculpture, Jewelry, Watercolor, Mobiles, Woodwork, Pastels, Oil, Mixed Media, and Bronze are all to be shown at the event.

They’re advertising this event as an alternative to the Cherry Creek Art Festival. While that may be an ambitious goal, given the history and experience of the folks at the Cherry Creek event, the 29th Street people have some good background of their own. The producers of the 29th Art Festival, Howard Alan Events, Ltd., also put together the Downtown Aspend Art Festival and the Beaver Creek Art Festival.

This is an outdoor event and it’s free. And since Cherry Creek is twenty or so miles away, with gas at more than $4 per gallon, this is a great local alternative. The festival has a website so you can get more details.

Check it out on July 5th, Saturday, from 10am – 8pm. Then again on July 6th, Sunday from 10am – 5pm.
