Superior Colorado Makes Money Magazine List

So while everyone in the Boulder County area is jumping up and down about Louisville Colorado making it to the number one spot on Money Magazine’s “Best Small Town To Live” list, few have noticed that Superior Colorado made the list at number 13.

I had a talk over coffee with a couple of local residents about their choices when they bought a home in the Superior community of Rock Creek. I was mostly listening, and doing little talking (hard to do for a Realtor I admit!) because I really wondered what they were going to say.

They talked about how they had considered other communities like Boulder (concensus was that the prices drove them away), Erie (some felt too far from their Boulder and Louisville based jobs), Broomfield (the comment many made was… ‘the houses were nice, but c’mon, it’s Broomfield) and for a variety of reasons, each person had their own but the concensus was that Superior won out for them almost hands down.

While I do know many people who happily live in other communities like the aforementioned Erie, Broomfield, Louisville, and Boulder, as well as the towns also nearby like Lafayette, Westminster and Longmont; many residents seem to have some sort of supernatural draw to the planned community of Rock Creek in Superior.

Here’s what Money Magazine had to say, at the end, I think what needs to be clarified for you is that it has the same school system; the highly acclaimed Boulder Valley School District. Superior and Louisville share Monarch High School and Monarch Middle School, and Superior has its own Superior Elementary and also on the south end, Eldorado K-8 (a combined Elementary and middle school).

Located just across the interstate from top-ranking Louisville, Superior offers many of the same amenities, including the same school.

This town was originally named for the quality of coal found there in the 1800s, but now Superior might as well describe the town’s location. Denver, Boulder, and Eldora Mountain Ski Resort are all less than an hour away.

The city boasts 27 miles of trails and 594 acres of parks and open space, and nearby employers include the University of Colorado, Sun Microsystems, IBM, and Ball Aerospace.

One of the biggest employment topics that Money Magazine failed to mention is the upcoming impact of ConocoPhillips and all the related industry that’s already bringing employment rates up and many jobs to the area.

Even though ConocoPhillips is in the boundaries of the city of Louisville, just as workers from Sun Micro, Storage Tek and lots of other businesses in and around the area including Interlocken in Broomfield, the workers at ConocoPhillips will need a place to live, and tons of them will be attracted to the master-planned community of Rock Creek in Superior.

If you think Superior, or one of the surrounding communities might be right for you I’d love to hear from you. Whether you, or someone you know may be thinking of a move, Call, Text, or Email me… I hope we can speak soon.

And by the way, I’m never too busy for your referrals, as a real estate professional intent on giving back to the community, my relationship-based career is exactly what you’ve been looking for in a helpful Realtor who will listen to you.
