Hi Zachary,
I found my way here through someone's blogroll...
When we talk about "who is to blame" for the very many distressing circumstances homeowners face today, it's easy to point the finger back at them citing their very own greed as a primary reason. It's also easy to say that "ignorance isn't an excuse for their troubles, they should have looked at what they signed themselves into."
The fact is, our current crisis was a problem perpetuated by everyone! To place blame on the consumer and say "it's their own damn fault" is not fair by any means!
We think about financing every day whilst borrowers think about it a couple of times throughout the year, if at all! Therefore, they trust in us to do the thinking for them when it comes to financing...they trust in us to make things better. They expect that trust to mean something! As the saying goes, "knowledge is power," unfortunately, too many individuals have abused that power for their own personal gain. A circumstance that was permitted as a result of the very lenient standards that were exercised in our credit markets in recent times...only now we're beginning to pay the price and unfortunately some of the "rightful" homeowners in our market find themselves in a pitted against the wall with no solution to their dilemma.
My recommendation, and I'm sure you'll agree...
"As much as possible, deal only with good and honorable people. If you deal with good people, you won't need a contract, and if you are dealing with bad people, no contract can protect you." -- Adam M. Aron
It's a pleasure to meet you Zachary! I hope you enjoy the snowboarding this year...I'm sure I will. We visit Mammoth every year and it's just about that time we visit again.
