Now This Boulder Realtor is ‘Green’ and this Caught his eye

As a Boulder Realtor I thought it made sense to get my Eco Broker certification. I did it and now everything looks green. Kind of weird considering it’s cold and snowy out there.

Allstate Insurance has rolled out a new ‘Green’ program where they donate money from your policy premium to offset the your carbon footprint and a few other things.

The short run-down:

Allstate is going GREEN? Sign up for automatic pay on your auto insurance and we will donate $30 to carbonfund.org (that’s how much it costs to offset the emissions of one car in a year).

Here are two links to check out:

Allstate Green (you may have seen something on 9news)

You may also have heard the guy in the Allstate commercials on the radio talking about this. I heard it this morning on 103.5. It’s the guy that’s on The Unit with the deep voice and he’s standing in the middle of the road talking about all the nonsense we do while we’re driving like talking on cell phones, putting on makeup, eating, smoking etc….

Here’s a little more info:

Our Green Projects
Reforestation

Part of the Allstate Green(SM) program will fund tree planting in identified, protected areas that, over time, will absorb tons of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. Just so you know – the Allstate forestation initiatives will be audited by Environmental Resource Trust to ensure that they deliver the appropriate carbon dioxide reduction benefits.

Marais des Cygnes National Wildlife Refuge, about 40 miles south of Kansas City, this project will help protect and reforest the largest contiguous tract of bottomland hardwood forest in Kansas

Tensas River National Wildlife Refuge located in Northeast Louisiana, this project will help reforest one of the largest tracts of bottomland hardwoods remaining in the Mississippi Delta.
Wind Energy

Unlike fossil fuels, wind energy emits zero carbon dioxide into the environment. Allstate Green(SM) will help fund these clean energy programs. Importantly, our wind energy programs fully comply with Green-e national standard requirements along with the EPA Green Power and Environmental Resources Trust requirements.

Horse Hollow II Wind Energy Project, located in West TX, this project covers approximately 47,000 acres in Taylor and Nolan Counties to deliver clean wind generated energy onto the electric grid.

Hancock Wind Project, located in Garner, IA, this wind energy project produces enough clean electricity for approximately 40,000 homes annually.
