More Jobs/Money Hit Boulder via SolidFire Inc.

Here we go again… another tech related company, SolidFire relocated to Boulder.

The reason? Founder and Chief Executive of SolidFire Inc., David Wright was quoted in the Boulder County Business Report as saying his reason to bring his company from Georgia to Boulder was to take advantage of the Boulder area’s history of innovation in data storage.

Remember, one of the early ground-breakers for the high tech and data storage in our area are IBM, Exabyte, Storage Tek, and many other  spin-offs from through the last few decades… so SolidFire is right on track with the analysis that our area has a history in data storage.

I’d seriously enjoy having the opportunity to talk to you about your plans if you’re moving, or if you know someone who is considering a move, and needs some straight answers.

Besides just relocating to Boulder, SolidFire Inc has raised some serious venture capital. In less than a year, Wright’s company is up to $37 million. As a tech startup, developing solid-state data-storage systems, specifically for cloud service providers, it looks like Wright is right on the money with a successful direction, and Boulder’s lucky to have SolidFire here.

SolidFire has attracted interest, and more importantly, money from all over the country. Both venture capital firms from California, New York, Virginia, Maryland; as well as private individuals  from various tech companies such as Data Domain, and Sun Microsystems.

One of the unique differences between SolidFire, and other data storage companies is that SolidFire utilizes SSD, not the typical spinning disk hard drive solutions… so they’re a perfect match for cloud based service storage providers.

What this all means for us? More jobs. Growth is expected to almost double the existing employee count at SolidFire Inc.
