Markel Homes’ Dakota Ridge Village

Dakota Ridge Village in BoulderMarkel Homes Construction Company is a good example of a high quality home builder in Boulder, CO. In fact, one of their projects really stands out to me at Dakota Ridge Village and you better get busy soon if you want to own one of their new homes as they’re getting ready to finish up the project with just a few home-sites left.

They don’t come cheaply. I’m told that homes along Dakota just west of 5th are listed for around $1.2 to $1.4 million. The Markel website shows that there are homes to be had on Denver Street and 5th Street for the mid $700’s up to just shy of $1 million. Appreciation has been good for the last few years as the project builds out and that’s great for the current residents! I have a client in the western portion and I’ve been estimating that from what I’ve seen happening, once this project finishes out, they’ll probably see perhaps a 25% appreciation in 3 to 5 years if we’re right about the trend.

Markel is a member of Built Green Colorado which is a program of the Home Builders Association of Metro Denver. That means that they adhere to practices, technologies and products that promote the sustainability of the planet, protects the environment and brings many benefits to homeowners including less maintenance, energy savings, cost savings and higher level of comfort.

Built Green and Leadership In Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System are both current high-profile buzz words in the Boulder real estate community and many builders including Markel Homes and Solar Village Homes, among others, are doing a tremendous job to bring products to the market that allow new home buyers to capitalize on, and realize personally, the benefits of Built Green and LEED certified homes.

Buyers benefit during their tenure as homeowners and in higher resale prices and appreciation over standard construction homes. Buyers and sellers are also becoming savvy and are getting a home energy rating to see how their homes stack up against traditional construction methods that don’t adhere to Built Green and LEED guidelines.

Other projects that include homes built by Markel include Northfield Commons, Yeager Farm, White Hawk Ranch and Spring Creek.

The Dakota Ridge Village comes with a high price tag, but if location and quality construction are important to you, I think this neighborhood has what you want. I’ve been impressed with what I’ve seen from Markel and am convinced that there’s still a good value for those of you in this price range with the Markel product.
