Lyons Colorado Reopening

Lyons Colorado almost disappeared in the flood.

That’s certainly the feeling and experience of many residents displaced from their homes and businesses.

After the floods that nearly wiped out the town of Lyons Colorado, we’re seeing things getting somewhat back to normal.

A local coffee shop opened up recently even though it had to use water that was ported in from somewhere else since they still didn’t have clean running water for washing etc. Man, the old-guy gang that hung out there regularly were happy.

While not everything is back to normal, a few new businesses reopened since the town became inaccessible on September 11th, 2013.

The latest word is that Spirit Hound Distillers on the Ute highway is back in action making whiskey, vodka, gin, and coffee liqueur.

After finding mud and water filling the lower level, they’ve recovered, and like many are ready to roll.

Many other local businesses are open and up and running so take a drive and spend some money up in Lyons to help everyone that’s back in action stay in action.
