Boulder Memorial Day Has No Rubber Ducks

duckBoulder’s annual Boulder Creek Festival is a signature event each Memorial Day weekend, and the rubber duck race has been a well loved fundraiser each year.

This year, there will be no race, no rubber ducks, and no fundraiser.

Boulder Parks and Recreation Department announced that the Boulder Civic Area Park work has disrupted the area along the creek such that it would be impossible to hold the race. Apparently there’s just too much construction.

duck raceThe duck race has brought in tens of thousands of dollars over the years.

This year’s 3 day festival starts at 10:00 am on Saturday May 27th and will occupy the area from Broadway to 14th Street between Canyon Boulevard and Arapahoe Ave as well as the Boulder High School lawn.

There will be a carnival, however it will be relocated to the Boulder Public Library parking lot adjacent to Arapahoe Ave due to the construction.

There will also be a craft beer showcase, live music from Dead-Phish Orchestra and Hazel Miller as well as many children’s activities.
