More Boulder Development Credit and TDC News
Some of the intentions of the new Transferable Development Credits (TDC) Program adopted by the Boulder county commissioners in August seem to be to provide an alternative to simple strict limits.
One fact of the TDC program is that it allows those people with property they own in Boulder county to realize some financial gain on the property without selling it. This could enhance the amount of undeveloped land in Boulder county, without the county having to purchase open space. Read more
Big News At Flatirons Habitat For Humanity
In an effort to try and get the word out to the local Boulder area community, Sandra Moriarty, our Habitat Outreach committee chairperson, ‘volunteered me’ to put together a PR release, and newsletter article for the local Habitat affiliate.

Does Boulder Development Rule Favor The Rich
During the meeting with Ruth C. Becker, the Boulder County TDC Clearinghouse Administrator, I learned that part of the decision to implement the Transferable Development Rights program included a decision to not set a firm cap on housing size.
Rather, the commissioners approved the TDC program in an effort to balance the wants and needs of those of us who wish to build a larger home, along with an opportunity for those who have a smaller home and want to sell development credits.
I think this looks like a great way for the county to create a revenue stream, and also to provide a method for those with big money to simply build the behemoth home they always intended. Read more

The third mayor to address the group at the recent Mayor’s Forum was Lafayette’s Mayor, Chris Cameron. Cameron’s initial comment was that she no longer believes that Lafayette is a ’second choice’ for people that can not afford Boulder, but wished they could.
